Notice to Seller
MARCH 1, 2020 – NEW STATE LAW – Effective March 1, 2020 a new law goes into effect which requires the County Clerk to provide written notice to a seller that their property has sold.  The Orleans County Clerk will not charge a fee but will require the seller’s attorney to complete the Notice, prepare a self addressed stamped envelope using the County Clerk’s address as the return address and submit these items when presenting closing documents at the front counter. The Notice must be on County Clerk letterhead – Notice of Sale or Transfer of Ownership.  Thank you for your cooperation as we enforce another State Mandate.

There will be a $10 fee if a letter is not provided and will need to be prepared by the Orleans County Clerk’s Office.

If you would like a copy of the New York State Law, please email nadine.hanlon@orleanscountyny.gov.  You will receive the requested item via email.
