Probation Most Wanted List
The Care and Crisis Help Line
The Care and Crisis Helpline is a program of the Orleans and Genesee County's Mental Health Departments. It is a free and confidential, 24/7 crisis helpline answered by skilled “listeners.” It provides a safe and non-judgmental source of support for individuals in any type of crisis.
The Probation Department protects the safety and property of persons by prevention of juvenile delinquency and adult crime and related family malfunctioning. The three main functions of Probation are Investigation, Supervision, and Intake to provide the Court with accurate material and reliable information. The department conducts investigations and reports for the Court on cases of juvenile delinquency, persons in need of supervision, family offense, custody, adoption, guardianship and neglect.
The activities of a probationer are subject to the supervision of a Probation Officer until termination of Probation. The type of supervision of each Probationer is varied and tailored to their needs in order to complete the sentence/disposition and for the safety and protection of society. The objective of Intake is to see that suitable cases are resolved nonjudicially and all others are either immediately referred for petition for court intervention, or referred to other agencies where appropriate.
